How To Reserve
To adopt a hedgehog, please visit our website to view photos and information about the hedgehogs by clicking on the photos of available babies. Before making a deposit, joining the Priority Waiting List, or scheduling a Meet & Greet appointment, a Prospective Buyer Form must be completed & approved. Buyers under 18 of age must have a parent or legal guardian fill our the form. ​​We will only speak to the approved applicant and alternative contact listed on the form.

Pay the Deposit​
Hedgehog Prices
Regular prices for baby hedgehogs start at $325 for males and $350 for females. Our hedgehogs are priced higher at our discretion, depending on gender, age, temperament, color, and lineage. ​ The price is NOT negotiable. Hedgehogs sold under $325 are considered discounted.​
Deposit
We will not hold a hedgehog without a non-refundable deposit. The deposit is $100 plus an additional $5 is allocated to cover the payment processing fee on the website, making the total $105 at checkout. ​​
Priority Waiting
To join the waiting list for future baby hedgehogs, a non-refundable deposit is required. Priority Waiting List members based on the order in which the deposits were received. Read more here!
Payment Methods
Please note that we accept payment in cash or through website checkout using Square. We do not accept e-checks, checks, or money orders. If you choose to dispute any transaction after the hedgehog and accessories have been received, you will be charged additional fees to cover all legal costs involved in recovering the original payment amount.
For pickups, we prefer cash for the remaining balances. Major credit and debit cards are also accepted through website checkout and invoice, but please note that a 3.5% Square fee will be included in card payments.
If you need to make payments, we offer Afterpay through a third-party provider. You will need to make the first payment upfront and the rest over time. The invoice will include a 6% fee. This option is an interest-free payment plan when you pay in four installments.
Scheduling Pickup
​Before scheduling your pickup or transport release, you must obtain pre-approval for your enclosure setup.
Only the approved applicant can contact us to schedule a pick-up. Your hedgehog must be picked up within seven days of being notified that your hedgehog is ready unless prior arrangements have been agreed upon.
The balance for your order must be paid in cash upon pickup. If you prefer to pay by card, kindly inform us before pickup, and we will send you a Pay Link. Please note that all electronic payments must be made at least 48 hours in advance. See our payment methods policy for more information regarding Square fees.

Porch pick-ups are only available by appointment at our residence in Owasso, Oklahoma. For liability reasons, we do not allow our customers inside our home. If you need to use the restroom before your scheduled pickup, please stop by QT before your arrival.
Our porch pick-up hours are as follows:
Saturdays: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
Sundays: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

If you happen to arrive early, please give us a call or send a text message to inform us. We may be able to accommodate an early appointment. If you cannot pick up your baby hedgehog on time due to unforeseen circumstances, please call us immediately. We schedule appointments according to our family's schedule and will not cancel any personal appointments that we have already made.
If you wish to reschedule your appointment, kindly inform us at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. If you are running late or unable to make it to your appointment, please let us know at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time. In the event of a no-show, any deposit made will be forfeited. If you do not arrange to pick up your hedgehog within 24 hours of the agreed-upon take-home date, you will also be considered a no-show. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

​Please bring your ID, a carrier to take your hedgehog home, and exact cash for the final payment. If you are under 18, your guardian must cosign.
Ground Transport
We provide ground transportation for hedgehogs to states where they are legal to own, using a USDA-licensed carrier. The cost for transporting up to two hedgehogs is a flat rate of $250. This fee includes bedding, food, and a travel carrier during transport.
Please note that we cannot guarantee the hedgehog's condition or health once it leaves on transport unless you request a health certificate. The health certificate, examination, and travel fees to our vet for up to four animals will be $250. Without a health certificate, animal transport is at the buyer's risk. Remember that all estimated arrival times and dates are subject to change, so it's your responsibility to stay updated. Please do not contact the transporter for inquiries, as they are solely responsible for the safe arrival of the animals.
We don't offer air shipment through any airline due to significant health hazards and logistical issues. Please check if hedgehogs are legal in your state or municipality before purchasing. We won't ship any hedgehogs to locations where it's illegal to possess them.
Supply Verification
To avoid any delays in pickup or transport, you must provide proof of the required supplies. Please ensure that you double-check the dimensions of your cage and accessories before sending the photos for supply verification. You need to provide photos of the cage from the front and top, along with a heating setup photo that includes all four components and a nutritional analysis of the two types of food you plan to feed. It's possible that additional photos may be required, so be prepared for that. You can find the cage requirements and supplies on our Supply List page. You must provide a minimum of three photos of your cage setup, following the example we provide.
Educational Appointments
If you are considering adding a hedgehog to your family, we highly recommend that you have an interaction with and hold one first. During the session, which is generally an hour or less, you can ask as many questions as you have. However, only the babies that are labeled as "ready now" will be shown. This is because there is a risk of mortality involved in taking babies away from their mothers too soon. If you are interested in a specific baby that is not old enough to meet, please note that availability cannot be guaranteed unless you reserve the baby after your session. If you decide to join the waiting list or purchase an available hedgehog, please note that you cannot take your hedgehog home until you have completed the adoption process and provided the necessary supplies verification.
Breeding Rights
Only USDA-licensed breeders will have access to my pedigrees. Breeding is strictly forbidden when sold under a pet home contract! Pet homes will NOT receive a pedigree or breeding rights. If any animal sold as a pet is bred,​ whether accidentally or intentionally, legal action will be taken for breach of contract and any/all damages. In the event of accidental or intentional breeding, the buyer agrees to pay Gunner's Quills Exotics $500 for breach of contract. We hold the right to reclaim the hedgehog and all resulting offspring and collect restitution for all legal costs involved in breeding the animal and its offspring and any profits the buyer has received. If any hedgehog sold as a pet is bred accidentally or intentionally, all health guarantees are null/void. The buyer may not breed, resell, or re-home for breeding purposes. Microchipping is used for identification purposes.​​
Right Of Refusal
​Our only priority is the welfare of our hedgehogs. Therefore, if we determine that you are unable to provide them with the proper care or have not conducted sufficient research, we reserve the right to cancel the sale at any time for any reason. Please be aware that in this circumstance, you will be refunded all payments except for the non-refundable deposit of $100 within 60 days. We take this matter seriously and do not compromise on the care of our animals. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

If you are found to be dishonest about your age, the state you reside in, whether or not you currently own hedgehogs, your intentions regarding breeding, or the intended owner of the hedgehog, the $100 non-refundable deposit will NOT be refunded and the purchase will be canceled. Please note that any information provided in the prospective buyer's form may be reviewed by Gunner's Quills and shared with collaborating breeders, our USDA inspector, or our veterinarian. Prospective buyers must be 18 years or older to be eligible for adoption.
​It's crucial to know the necessary supplies you'll need to purchase before starting the adoption process. These supplies can be pretty costly, so it's important to be financially prepared to avoid any surprises. If you fail to purchase the proper supplies, the sale will be refused, and any payments made will be forfeited. We also reserve the right to refuse the adoption of homes that already have opposite-sex hedgehogs. Please be aware that any false Google reviews resulting from our right to refuse a sale due to any of the reasons mentioned above will blacklist you with collaborating breeders. Furthermore, incentivizing friends to leave reviews due to your adoption refusal will result in legal action.
Returns
Illegal States
Hedgehogs are illegal to own as pets in California, Georgia, Hawaii, the five boroughs of New York City, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and Fairfax County, Virginia. A permit might be necessary to own a pet hedgehog where you live; please check your area's state, city, and county ordinances before applying.

As a responsible hedgehog owner, you should conduct your own research and make an informed decision. You fully comprehend the obligation that comes with owning a hedgehog and take responsibility for providing a lifelong home that includes suitable housing, maintaining appropriate temperatures, readily available freshwater, balanced nutrition, necessary veterinary care, basic grooming (such as bathing and nail trimming), regular handling, and preventing any intentional or accidental breeding of the pet. Failure to provide an appropriate heat source on a thermostat that maintains the hedgehog’s cage at 78-80F degrees, a minimum of a 4 square foot smooth bottom cage, a 12” solid surface exercise wheel, and a proper diet that meets nutritional requirements will void all replacement warranties. When adopting a hedgehog from us, you accept the responsibility of proper hand washing, care, and cleanliness. As a purchaser, you agree to provide the necessary care and handling to ensure the safety of yourself and others who may come into contact with your pet hedgehog.

Please note that when purchasing a hedgehog from Gunner's Quills as a pet, breeding is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this policy will result in legal action for breach of contract. As a pet owner, you will not be provided with pedigrees. Also, if you purchase a hedgehog under a pet home contract, you will not have any breeding rights for that particular animal. While all our hedgehogs are pedigreed and verified through the Hedgie List, if you purchase as a pet, the hedgehog is not considered "pedigreed" for breeding purposes unless you have the pedigree in hand. Kindly refer to our Breeding Policy for more information.

All animals purchased at Gunner's Quills must be surrendered for proper rehoming. Reselling or rehoming is not permitted, and no financial reimbursement will be given. (See Return Policy)

ALL SALES ARE FINAL! There are NO REFUNDS on hedgehogs, cage setups, shipping charges, vet expenses, boarding fees, or deposits.

Health Warranty
All regular priced hedgehogs are covered by our 6-month replacement warranty against congenital disease and lifetime replacement warranty against Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS). The health warranties do not cover adults, rescues, or any hedgehog priced under $325.​
A necropsy is required to receive a replacement hedgehog. No exceptions! The report must have a detailed description of the hedgehog, including its weight, body score, color, and facial markings. Once we confirm the identity of the hedgehog and the replacement is approved, the buyer will have 60 days from the date of the necropsy paperwork to select a replacement. Health warranties are non-transferable. The buyer is responsible for all veterinary and shipping costs for replacing the hedgehog. If the hedgehog has confirmed congenital disorders or WHS, the initial purchase cost will be transferred to an equal or lower-value hedgehog.​

​The warranties don't cover any incidents of negligence, injuries, improper diet, or illnesses resulting from improper care. It is essential to maintain a temperature range of 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit, which requires a specific heating setup. It is important to remember that hedgehogs are solitary animals and should not be housed together.​ If the hedgehog is bred accidentally or intentionally, all health guarantees are null/void, and legal action will be pursued.​
Necropsy Instructions
If your hedgehog passes away and you suspect a genetic problem or WHS, it's essential to take them to a diagnostic lab as soon as possible after death. This will allow for a complete necropsy to be performed.
Step 1: Put your hedgehog in a large, labeled Ziploc bag and refrigerate it. Do not freeze.
Step 2: Line a small box with puppy training pads. Wrap the ice pack in a pad and place the absorbent side directly on top to absorb moisture. necropsy
Step 3: Place your hedgehog on an ice pack wrapped in a puppy pad. Add more training pads, and roll everything up to create a burrito shape. Secure it with tape. Get a Priority Shipping box and put your hedgehog inside it. Add packing material such as crumpled newspaper to prevent any shifting during shipping. Finally, take the box to the post office for priority shipping.
Step 4: Print and complete three forms found on the OSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory website. Seal the completed forms in a Ziploc bag before placing them inside the box.

Step 5: Seal the box and mail it to the address at the top of the necropsy submission form using overnight delivery. In about a week, OSU will send you the findings via email. Please forward the PDF document.
